Strong verbs for composition

A strong verb does the work of a plain verb plus an adverb.

“She said softly” can become “She whispered.”

“He walked angrily” can become “He stormed out.”

The reader sees the action without an extra explaining word.

Find the plain word in the first column, then borrow the strong verb beside it. Change the sentence so it fits your own story. One precise verb is better than three weak ones. Some words repeat across the list, because the same idea can be shown in more than one way.
